Its about time they finally showed up! Trout fishing was slow to start off the cool water season. It seems they've gotten hungry this week and are prowling the grass flats. Most have been hanging out in 2-3 feet of water. Striking at anything shiny that swims past. Recently we had anglers that wanted to compete. Live bait vs artificial during their charter. The artificial won, hands down. Lures, popping corks and soft plastics were among the most bitten! One appropriately called "trout magic"
Protected for recovery, a number of juveniles were released in the area last year. This was done to assist the species population after the red tide summer/ fall of 2018. I am happy to report that this year, our waters are clear and fish numbers are up!
